Danish Rugbrød


Our Danish Rugbrød is fermented for three days from start to finish. This is your bread if you like dense breads, with a lingering rye flavor that is 100% addictive. We dare you to just eat one slice. But keep the fermentation time in mind when ordering and make sure you give us plenty of notice so that we can bake up your loaf.

Our Danish Rugbrød is made from 100% whole rye flour with some cracked rye and sunflower seeds thrown in for texture, with a hauntingly, cloying sourness that sneaks up from behind you and slaps you on the backside of your head.

This loaf is dense; like really dense. Like, you could hurt someone with it. But if you slice it thin and toast it, then top it with, say, some pickled herring; you might think that you’ve teleported to Scandinavia!
